A finalized Pandora!
I just got back from my vacation. I was speaking to Craig “Craigix” Rothwell who is leading the OpenPandora homebrew gaming handheld just now. He showed me a picture his partner Michael Weston took of a fully manufactured Pandora.
After contacting “MWeston” I found out he just uploaded this video of the Pandora on YouTube:
For more information on this awesome gadget making it’s way into the hands of many very soon, check out these links:
I am eagerly awaiting a fully assembled Pandora to continue my work with psx4pandora, the Sony Playstation 1 emulator for it. My Pandora MK2 (second generation test board) is somewhere around Michael Weston’s place. In the meantime I can just stare at this lovely picture:
And now I go back to work on the iPhone sort…whipcrack anyone?

P.S. Anyone else find MWeston’s name familiar? It could be due to watching the USA TV series show Burn Notice. So while some may think of MWeston as a hardware hacker, I think of him as a super spy. Perhaps the TV series’ writers are avid OpenPandora fans. If not, they should be.

Hmm I think the specs are awesome, and that the developers have done a good job on creating this, but the design is ugly as ****… I really hope that the final version will have better looks!!
pandora and iphone 3gs are almost same spec right?
what about the n64 emulator for iphone? how's it ging with that?
I agree to atticusNL. I just do hope a lot of devs will jump onto the bandwagon, as it hasn't stirred such a mainstream stir as the iPhone did. But then the iPhone is far away from being anything like Open Source, so I generally regard the pandora as superior. Won't buy one though, I'm too short on cash to buy yet another handheld.
I'm completly in love with this. Thing is their way of selling it (IBAN code) and the number of times they made batches. I think of it as unprofessional, sorry
Once this comes out will you still be on the iPhone and iPod Touch scene aswell?

I'm hoping you'll continue development on psx4all for the GP2X Wiz as well since the hardware is somewhat similar between the two (both run on ARM9). I look forward to getting a Pandora in the future, but due to limited supply and the slow release schedule many people are still sticking with the GPH systems for now.
I'll echo Tristor! Please do continue the development for the Wiz. I've seen lots of test vids on Youtube of people showing the performance of PSX4All. Personally, I'm more interested in the 2D stuff. Keep up the great work!
how much will it cost?
Hahah… sucks for the Pandora development team.
They take way too long. By the time they get this thing out there, and selling (if it sells well) the iPad will be out, making this piece of technology almost obsolete.
iPad beats the Pandora in processing power, in screen size, in battery life, and almost the same price.
the pandora might be beaten as far as processing power goes alright. but its way more portable than the ipad, feature real gaming control + physical keyboard. not to mention, the pandora is about as open source as it can get.
as far as batteries goes, well, only time shall tell, but apple arent exactly specific about the battery either, both the ipad and pandora state up to 10hours of usage.
and the price… that one made me laugh XD. as it is right now, the ipad is nearly twice the price of the pandora, its not exactly "almost". i expect its price to drop in the next year or so, but i highly doubt it will beat the pandora price honestly.

Compare Mobile Phones
The open source part makes it much better than the ipad, iPhone, or any other apple product. Open source means that it is already better than the ipad, and will remain better. Besides, it runs a real operating system, not some crappy mobile system. I can say that as soon as I get enough money, I will buy one.
Where can I find the source code for psx4pandora?
