mame4iphone is back with version 1.5.0
I updated mame4iphone to version 1.5.0. It is now available on my Cydia Community Source repo allowing all people with Cydia, RockApp, or Icy to download it. I also updated the source which is available on my GitHub. I am not taking donations for mame4iphone, and want everyone to enjoy the 100% free release.
So what’s new in this release? While you should be able to notice more performance, I didn’t get to update things to the assembly CPU cores just yet. I did update it to the latest MAME4All v2.4 release by the talented Franxis. I also updated the iPhone/iPodTouch specific user interface to allow for even the entire romset to be loaded. This also fixed some bugs with some screen orientation plus scaling options to not render correctly.
There is a known issue where ROMs can not be switched mid-game. There is also no way to use save states due to the older version of MAME being used. Both of these issues occurred in v1.0.0 as well.
This should help ease the wait for my proper NeoGeo+CD emulator release, as a good amount of classic NeoGeo games are supported.

where r the skins located?
I noticed that the games do not display the scores as some of the top and some of the bottom screens are cropped. This is seen in PacMan, Galaga and a few others. Scaling doesn’t seem to work. Is there a way to get the full screen on these games?
Since I use mame4all by Franxis to do this port, which worked with a strictly 320×240 screen, some games get cropped. I will look into a fix when free time comes along for this project.

If you don't have wifi on your device you can use diskaid to put the deb in a temporary directory, and then use iFile on the device to install it.

the Mame4iphone emulator – for" the author"
I see most rom websites like doperoms and romhustler have mame roms like marvel vs capcom and other titles from "2000" was this emulator release designed to run these newer games and i just have to take some files and pack them into zip file, or this particular emulator will not read the newer roms and just say that there are missing rom parts in the zip folder simply because it cant handle loading? i dealt with this on PSP emulators where i had to repack the zip files or download the correct ones to get them to work on neogeo csp2 and mame. just curious?

this is so cool, but i tried to download shaolins road mame roms from different cites, but when i try to play it it says missing files, kinda sucks
i just installed the game kicker, but when i run it it asks me to type ok to continue, wtf?
That romset you have is maybe made for a newer version of the PC version of mame.
I see you're getting a bit more careful as to how you phrase the whole donation thing, seeing as what trouble it brought you before with the mame team.
Anyhow, I'm having trouble getting pretty much any game to work. I've put the zipped BIOS'es into the roms folder, but every game I try gives me the missing files error. (the BIOS is found and recognized, it's some .rom files that should, apparently, be in the zipped rom package, but aren't)
So far, I've tried various Metal Slug games and Streets of Rage 2, and they all give me the same error.
Is that a bug or are my roms bad rips?
you have to press the directional keys in order to simulate the okay:
left right left right. It would be way more awesome if it were the konami code.
seems my roms are either bad rips or simply unsupported. Metal Slug 2 (hadn't tried that one before) works. Just a shame streets of rage doesn't work…

I'm pretty sure the files you are talking about are copyrighted, which is why mame4iphone doesn't include them. I could be wrong. Either way I'm sure whatever files you need can be found online and put to the right folder using WinSCP. The wiki probably has more information.
If you're getting missing roms, simply check the list of what is missing and go find the roms with those bin files and place them ALL together in one zipfile. Also, try an older 80s arcade rom instead of these 2MB+ sized newer games which will kill the memory on your phone anyway. -Swoop
I'm trying to run metal slug 3 and marvel vs capcom, are these games too big to run on this emulator? Metal slug is around 70mb and mvsc around 20mb.

I can't run any rom because of "required files are missing" error. Whats the problem? I was windows mobile user before and I had mame emulator(dont remember name) and these missing files are used to be cache files that emulator created self. IMO this emulator don't do that and thats the problem. I can be wrong, so correct me please if I am

The virtual pad in portrait mode has the button too close and it has not animation for clicking and in landscape mode, the buttons cover the game screen.
I wonder if is it possible to change the button layout skin…

i tried like a billion mame roms from all over the web, and none of them worked? they all said they had missing files, what do i do?
I downloaded the gp2x wiz 2.2 full romset and most roms seem to be working for me.

Zodd, I hate posting this to the comments, but I just started creating custom skins for your emus that I've purchased and/or use. Im playing with Mame4iPhone, which I find the most exciting of your emus., however, I can't configure keys yet. Have you added the mame backend keymapping/configuration anywhere for user configuration? I have strider playing well, but I want to play gladiator, and would rather not "remap" the face keys to make it work globally, just the keys in gladiator. Emu works great, especially with my newest skin that maximized screen real estate without losing playability

Sorry if the answer is obvious. I just barely downloaded Mame for my iPhone and I'm excited to use it (Viva Donkey Kong!).
The instructions indicate:
"A folder '/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/MAME/' is already made for you"
The question I have is where do I go to access this folder? Is it on my iPhone or on my computer? Either way, I can't seem to locate said directory. How can I access this to add my roms?

download iphonebrowser, and make sure you install the certain file you need to use it on your iphone from rock or cydia (i think it gives the name on the iphonebrowser google website). once you have that up and running, look for the folder that is at the top of the BROWSE tab in the mame app on your iphone, and put the rar'ed roms there,

Hi folks. Just had the “required files missing” problem with metal slug. I’ve opened the zip file, altered the .bin files to .rom, also changing the names of the files from XXXXX-XX to mslug_XX, and the rom loaded. But it comes with the sprites messed up, the colors went crazy and all that. Maybe related to the color system of the rom? From the same site i’ve downloaded Metal Slug 2 and it worked nice, just having some slowdowns… But the touch controls completely kill the game (maybe just for me and my enormous hands). My only options now are play in potrait (small screen :[ ) – Hey, anyone already tried to use the iPhone tvout to play on TV? It could be great with WiiMote via BTStack!
Please ZodTDD make the mame4iphone support the WWF Wrestlefest (wwfwfest) can't load due to missing files… while it works fine with mame32 for PC

BTW did someone have issues with the following "Save State" scenarios:
mame4iphone -> no way to save at all
sega gensis & snes -> I can't save to the current state always to new one… and only after i click first quit game…
also there is no way to delete the save states from the emulators themselves right?

Cheap Mobile
With 1.5.0, I am seeing frequent crashes when I exit a game. Instead of returning to the mame4iphone menu, the app just crashes back to the springboard. Only very few ROMs do not crash when exited. This did not happen with prior versions. The crash occurs in both 3G and 3GS running FW 3.1.2.

Thanks. However, the trouble I am having though is that when I EXIT the current ROM to try to return to the MAME4iPhone screen, it would crash to the springboard. I do not need to switch ROMs in mid-game. I just want to exit one ROM completely and then start another ROM without MAME4iPhone crashing. Are we talking about the same phenomenon?
