[edit] Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • How do I install gpSPhone on my iPhone/iPod Touch ?
Purchase it via the Cydia Store.
  • How do I transfer my ROMs and the bios to my iPhone/iPod Touch ?
Follow this tutorial. The files must be placed in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/GBA/.
Alternatively, you can install both Safari Downloader (free) and iFile ($4) through Cydia. Safari Downloader allows you to download files onto your iPhone, but you need iFile (or something similar) to move the files to the appropriate location. iFile can also extract compressed files and set file permissions. Remember to set file permissions to Read/Write/Execute for User, Group and World.
  • When I try to play a game, an error message pops up saying "Sorry, but gpSP requires a Gameboy Advance bios image [...]". What am I doing wrong ?
gpSPhone requires the file "gba_bios.bin" to run, use Google to acquire it. Put the file in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/GBA. (Bios hash : a860e8c0b6d573d191e4ec7db1b1e4f6)
  • I transferred some ROMs (in the right folder) but they just don't show up !
Perhaps changing the permissions (recursively) of the /Applications/gpSPhone.app folder to 0777 might solve your problem.
  • Why doesn't XXX work on my gpSPhone ? (It's confirmed to work in the compatibility list.)
Try a different ROM dump (or ROM version). If that doesn't work, reinstall gpSPhone and try again.
  • How to add cheats to gpSPhone ?
Check this page. You can also read this thread.
  • Why won't my games save ?
Change the permissions of the emulator & ROMs directories to 0777.
