[edit] Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • How do I install gameboy4iphone on my iPhone/iPod Touch ?
Use Cydia.
  • How do I transfer ROMs to my iPhone/iPod Touch ?
Follow this SSH tutorial. The files must be placed in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/GAMEBOY/.
Alternatively, you can install both Safari Downloader (free) and iFile ($4) through Cydia. Safari Downloader allows you to download files onto your iPhone, but you need iFile (or something similar) to move the files to the appropriate location. iFile can also extract compressed files and set file permissions. Remember to set file permissions to Read/Write/Execute for User, Group and World.
  • How do I bring up in the in-game menu?
Note: The controls are the same in all skins, but the 'menu' touch area is not marked in some of them.
  • In portrait mode, tap in the center of the entire screen, just below the Gameboy screen.
  • In landscape mode, tap in the center of top of the screen.

- Possibility of crash after playing 2 games. (3.0.0)
If you also experience this problem, add your name here (with version) : zelminar, Tim.z, alexdyke, iwasaperson (all the time)

If you also experience this problem, add your name here (with version) : 2o2, MisterMaggi, Pain, Spacetech, Martinus, Maxid, zelminar, Ben, Lothar, GigoByte, Sammy., alexdyke

- After the new patch, it doesn't launch the program. Only a black window appears and then it closes.
If you also experience this problem, add your name here (with version) : DOVANUCCI, Meanbastard Jr, deftonix, JasonZ, travinator, Ianx3, Jacob, Jordan10la, Idhrenbaud, JDMOD, houZo, alex, manda.j, Beavercorn2010, JosephStalin, SuperJeff, Shoddy, Youngjb, Arel , GraFF_ , tanner , Pacsun, Liperty, DingDong, Jay-P007, Liomel, xMikeh, lightpurpledye , sligh(gb4iphone 4.5.0, OS 3.2.1, 3GS), Lordr3 (gb4iphone 4.5.0, OS 3.1.1, 3GS), Drag0n42(gbi4phone 4.5.0, 2G 3.1.2 FW) Tmargo101 (iPod touch 2g, fw 3.1.2; app version 5.0.0)
Tip from Jay-P007 : If you have this problem (with the black window), try to turn off the Wifi connection. After that it should work normally.
If you found this useful, add your name here (with version) : Kaan Deathcallsdeath, Ronan, lightpurpledye, goffmj (3.1.2), Lordr3 (gb4iphone 4.5.0, OS 3.1.1, 3GS)Drag0n42(gbi4phone 4.5.0, 2G 3.1.2 FW)
- When playing whilst connected to 3G/EDGE/GPRS safari opens with an advert, causing the game to exit.
If you also experience this problem, add your name here (with version): Baardi (Ipod Touch 2.2.1, Norway), Deathfire234 (iPhone 2.2.1, USA, CA. (I don't have WiFi...))
Connecting to wifi, or being connected to wifi may fix this problem.
I believe the problem is only caused to UK users on the O2 network. Since O2 proxy all images and recompress them to save further bandwidth, the ad banner ends up being somewhere other than on googles server, causing safari to open up.
Going into Air-plane mode will sort the problem,
