ZodTTD & Friends will make an action platformer game in 30 days for AppStore!

24

For those keeping up with me here at ZodTTD.com, I have been fairly quiet as of late. That usually means I’m working on some new projects, and this time is no different! Today I bring you the announcement of a new AppStore title I am working on. The game is titled “Wizzley Presto and the Mysterious Time Machine”. It’s a very slick looking action platformer game with some slight RPG elements. Wizzley Presto is rather like the Dizzy series of games you’ve loved in the past.

This development team is kept small, consisting of Craig from the OpenPandora gaming handheld project who will be programming, Ruckage our awesome artist, and me (ZodTTD) to bring in some iPhone experience and get the game programmed as well.

A cool element of this project is the blog. We are doing this game in 30 days, from an idea to a finished product for AppStore. Best of all we’re showing all of what is involved along the way. Expect lots of interesting posts for all those who wonder what it’s like programming a game on the iPhone & iPod Touch!

So be sure to check out Wizzley Presto’s progress on it’s official launch page and be sure to read about the $1000 prize for the first person to beat the game: http://www.30daygame.com

Leave a comment and show your support by spreading the word of Wizzley Presto and it’s 30DayGame project on your favorite sites such as TouchArcade!

In the meantime here’s a video made in the first few days of Wizzley Presto’s progress from the 30DayGame blog:

Thanks for the support and hope to see the word spread on this as I’m very excited to be a part of it!

  2. DivX says:

Great, sounds like a fun challenge for you, especially the two since it’s their first work with an apple system. Good luck!

    • zodttd says:

Definitely! Plus this is the first time I’ve made a game like this. I’m really impressed with Craig’s ability to show me new tricks of the game programming trade.

  3. Pub-release says:

lol is that ur voice? haha nice… U sound… hmmm is it German?

    • zodttd says:

      That’s Craig’s voice. He’s in England. :P

      • Ticktock says:

The mysterious Zod! You should do a vid with you on. There’s a lot of speculationa bout what you sound and look like….Looking forward to the release. It’s nice to get something new.

        Thanks

OOooh. Can’t wait. This is the definitely kind of game lacking in the appstore.

  10. phazonknight says:

Looks cool, might pick it up as soon as itunes is not being gay!
But hey zod, when you decide to work on emulators can you update gameboy first, its pretty much near perfect and i think your 5.00 might get sound and performance to perfection. This is only a request and a suggestion not a demand so feel free to overlook it.
    But nice app

    I definitely like it!

You guys should plan another RPG game after the completion of that one…. make it as battle style like Final Fantasy & Chrono Trigger … and moving around like Secret of Mana & Secret of Evermore (if ever possible having multiplayer through wifi that would be awesome… like on these 2 titles you were able to play the whole game with 2 or 3 people playing the game on the same time)… but having the same implementation of Touch movement used in the game Vay. Well duhh the art to be similar to the game you guys are finishing up now.

pretty sure… there are tons of Avid RPG fans out there expecting some new fresh meat on this idea…

    Keep up the good work

    Hey Zodttd,
my friends and me from germany really appriciate your work! but i wanted to ask what had happended to the hedgewar port for iphone and ipod touch? are you still working on it?
    thanks for all your work,
    keep it up!

    • Whitewolf99 says:

no, he’s not working on it. he said in the past, that he spoke with the hedgewars team and that it would be too hard (nearly impossible) to port.

  13. Tty says:

Hey zodttd u r good at this stuff u should try to make a java emulator

    • 1338h4x says:

Wha? You mean a Java virtual machine? The iPhone, like every phone out there, already has the JavaME framework in place.
Or did you mean porting Zod’s emus to the Java runtime? That’d be rewriting everything, and there are already various emulators written in Java anyway.

      • Dave says:

        >Wha? You mean a Java virtual machine? The iPhone, like every phone out there, already has the
        >JavaME framework in place.

Umm, no. The iPhone has no builtin Java framework *at all*. There are Java frameworks available for it though. Keep in mind that Java apps take more memory and disk space (on average) and are slower than native Obj-C apps, and therefore it wouldn’t make sense to write an emulator in Java.

  14. Tty says:

Realy i have look for emulators or amy thing that would run java games like a phone just like the psp emultor or run java script from online

  15. Turtledogg says:

Yes!!! I have been thinking Bout suggesting an app for the iPhone that would play .jar games for a while! I know there’s emulators on my windows machine that can play .jar games. I think that would be a great idea! Btw zodttd, what happend to the super tux port? Thanks

  16. Tty says:

Im going to try and code a java emulator or a least to get rumescape, dragonfable, and other rpg games to play i all ready almost had runescape to play.
